According to Culture Monster the tale revolves around Shrek ( Eric Petersen) whose swamp has been invaded by fairy tale characters, exiled by decree of despotic, diminutive Lord Farquaad (David F.M. Vaughn).  In order to rid himself of his unwanted visitors, Shrek agrees to rescue Farquaad’s intended bride, Princess Fiona (Haven Burton) from a castle surrounded by lava and guarded by a lovelorn lady dragon (spectacularly voiced by Carrie Compere).

“Shrek: The Musical,” now at the  Pantages Theatre, 6233 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood.  7:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays.  Ends July 31.  $25-$90. (800) 982-2787. Running time:  2 hours, 35 minutes.

  1. Four years ago, I would have arranged a weekend in NY just to see this performance. Not even a thought of how much the event would cost. Today, I only frown and hope that it arrives in SF again.
