American Idol runner-up season 10 and Mercury Nashville recording country artist Lauren Alaina sung the national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner” for the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving day and she forgot the lyrics to the national anthem; however, she kept on singing and completed the song.

Alaina forgot this part of the song “What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?”. She messed up after “hail’d.

“In 1814, Francis Scott Key wrote the poem, Defense of Fort McHenry. The poem was later put to the tune of (John Stafford Smith’s song) The Anacreontic Song, modified somewhat, and retitled The Star Spangled Banner. Congress proclaimed The Star Spangled Banner the U.S. National Anthem in 1931.”

Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions 27-15.
