Topic: NBA Lockout – Memphis Mayor AC Wharton

The NBA lockout is a nightmare for those who depends on the revenue from the games.  According, to SI.com the television network partners at ABC, TNT and ESPN will surely be fuming at the prospect of no games on Christmas Day and beyond.

Players will scramble to sign overseas while having to admit that their bold move backfired. Owners will continue to see the lasting impact of their decisions on both the game at large and their bottom line. City leaders like Wharton will begin to run out of patience when their people are the ones being punished.

“We wish the [lockout] had not occurred,” Wharton said. “We wish it would end immediately. It is damaging our citizens, our businesses, even right now. It’s not a matter of whether our city can withstand the losses or not, but you have to look at it in the entire context.”

This death march needs to stop now. Let sanity, and the season, survive.

  2. I think what the owners are doing to the players is terrible but the sad reality is that the owners always win. It happened in the NHL, it happens in baseball and it’s going to happen in basketball. I’m just lucky enough that I enjoy more sports than basketball so I don’t feel that big a void from no NBA.

    1. Hey Chris, OMG! This is a mess huh? A lot of the players are seeking overseas work as we speak, I feel so sorry for the workers that’s getting mim. wage, they are the hardest hit. Which NBA team is your favorite?

  3. I think it is sad, it is ending on dec. 15th but I wish it would end sooner. Let the love of the game continue and simple as that. An agreement between the NBA and the owners needs to happen ASAP before people (the players) loose their minds signing to other counties and leaving the U.S.

    1. Hi Jay, I want to thank you so much for commenting, I love sports and I have a hard time getting females to participate in sports conversations lol I will be so glad when they are back on the courts, I have a feeling you are a Miami Heats fan! lol Big hug and Thanks
