Prince Alwaleed of Saudi  has invested $300 in Twitter and the reason for the investment is for “substantial capital gain.” Alwaleed has stakes in Citigroup Inc. and News Corp.

According to Waleg, Kingdom’s Holding Co executive director Ahmed Halawani said the deal was made by secondary market transaction or the shares they bought were from existing shareholders. Prince Alwaleed owns an investment company called Kingdom Holding Co.

Prince Alwaleed said of his investment,  “Our investment in Twitter reaffirms our ability in identifying suitable opportunities to invest in promising, high-growth businesses with a global impact.”

Twitter wants to gain more investors and advertisers to help improve the service to its users.
