Chinese fans of Taiwanese singing trio S.H.E recently noticed that one hospital in China had misused their idols’ portraits, which were seen on posters promoting treatment for impotency.
The photo on the widely distributed 2012 calendar depicted the three members — Selina Jen, Hebe Tien and Ella Chen — with Ella in the middle, holding onto a plush toy.
Accompanying the photo was a caption which read: Painless abortion, gynaecology, impotency and genitals corrective surgery.
Judging from the caption and photo placement, members of the public were easily misled with the impression that S.H.E members are the hospital’s spokespersons.
As Hebe sported a short haircut in the photo, it is believed that the picture was taken during S.H.E’s album promotion in 2008 for S.H.E FM Station.
After the group’s fans discovered what happened, they chided the institution for ruining S.H.E’s image and being unethical, adding that the hospital should be punished by law.
The group’s record label HIM International commented on the report and said, “We’ll look into this, so as to find an effective solution to prevent such incidents from happening again in future.”
