South Korean actor Song Seung-heon is set to star in a melodrama movie depicting a military officer’s clandestine love, the film’s local distributor NEW said Monday.

The film titled “Love Addiction” follows a Korean hero of the Vietnam War who falls in abandoned love with the wife of a subordinate during the war.

It is a new work by filmmaker Kim Dae-woo who wrote the screenplay for “Untold Scandal” (2003), and directed “Forbidden Quest” (2006) and “Bangja” (2010).

“I felt the class of the ‘Untold Scandal,’ the intensity of ‘Lust, Caution,’ the ardentness of ‘In the Mood For Love’ at the same time,” Song said through the distributor of his first impression about the film from the new movie’s script.

Song rose to stardom for his starring role in the hugely popular KBS TV drama “Autumn in My Heart.” The series was exported all over Asia, making both him and co-stars Song Hye-kyo and Won Bin pan-Asian and Korean wave stars.

Since then, he has been actively recruited for film roles and advertisements in Japan, Hong Kong and other Asian countries.

“Love Addiction” will begin filming next month for a 2014 release, according to the company.
