Taiwan singer-actor Wu Chun revealed that his wife is pregnant and will soon give birth to a son, during a media conference for the launch of his new book “Ignite Courage” in Taipei on Wednesday, reported Taiwan media.
“There is still a little boy, who will be born soon,” Wu told reporters.
This comes shortly after Wu announced that he is married, and has fathered a daughter with his wife, in a message posted on his official fan website on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Brunei native went on to describe his wife, whom he married in 2009, as “my best comrade, friend and lover” during the event.
He said she had sent him a message telling him to “face it” earlier in the day, as he was so nervous that he couldn’t sleep, following his post on Tuesday.
Clearing the air
Wu also took the opportunity to deny reports that his announcement regarding his marriage and his daughter, who was born in 2010, was a publicity stunt to promote his new book.
“I have always wanted to share my story with everyone, and this timing is just right,” said Wu.
“All the royalties I get from this book will go to charity. It’s not about promoting the book.”
He further explained that the photographs which tabloids claimed were of his wife and daughter, and had cited as proof that he is married and a daddy in 2011, are actually photos of his sister-in-law and her child.
However, the former member of Taiwan boy band Fahrenheit conceded that he “could not handle the reports (about his marriage and child) at the time, and chose to keep it a secret”.
What of his rumoured romance with pop trio S.H.E’s Ella Chen in 2007?
Wu said that he did not cheat on his wife, and that Chen was simply “a good friend”.
