Taiwanese singer-actress Makiyo revealed that her mother’s condition has worsened ever since stopping her chemotherapy.

As reported on Apple Daily, ever since her fourth stage lung cancer diagnosis in September 2011, the singer’s mother has been undergoing chemotherapy. However, she decided to stop the treatment due to allergies, and relied on traditional Chinese medicine instead, not forgetting to attend regular check-ups at the hospital at the same time.

However, on 12 January, Makiyo revealed that her mother’s condition has worsened since her last check-up in December, where the doctor found that she had fluid in her lungs.

The 63 year-old woman remained stubborn about being hospitalised, saying that she would rather be at home than lie on the hospital bed like other patients. She also revealed that she is allergic to Western medicine.

When asked about her mother’s condition, Makiyo stated, “She was happier after stopping chemotherapy and felt less pain. But she has problems breathing now. I even get nightmares every night, most of them about losing someone I love or a misfortune befallen me. It made me very nervous.”

She also revealed that the doctor has advised her mother to drink more water and urinate to improve her renal function.

The actress also revealed that she has reduced her entertaining activities and returns home early to keep her mum company, but will be busy promoting her two films after Lunar New Year.
