    I’ve been wondering about that too. When I went to Korea in 2015 I was at the airport, just landed, so still in an area where you only had access to if you arrived in Korea. Suddenly like 40 young girls swarmed the area with huge cameras and shortly after all the Exo members just walked by. I was so confused, because did all these girls just take a flight to Korea to get some pictures of exo?? How else would they have gotten into that area? But how the fuck did they get Travis address??? Someone please reply to this.

    This has been happening in kpop for years, it’s why B.T.S started flying private jets. Nct have suffered this and everytime they call it out the saesangs threaten them. They even have people even following them from hotel to hotel on tours.

    There was an incident with treasure where a staff member at the airport tried to let someone photograph their passport.

    It’s disgusting.

      Same here, I’m so curious about how it all works! Like, do you need to pay to get into that kind of group? Or is it all about having connections?       I only know this stuff from a kpop channel on YouTube that has done a few call outs to certain sasaengs so I’m not an expert.

      They seem to form “friendship” groups online with other sasaengs which generally end up pretty toxic. It is expensive to be one and they usually make fun of others who can’t afford what they do, though they might not all be rich, some are probably going into debt. I don’t really know how they can do a job living the lifestyle they do but some of them seem to make it work.

    Hongin, Jermhi, Travis, Hyungju has some serious weird stalkers. There was the one person I will not call a fan who sent Hongin a birthday gift and because he didn’t acknowledge this gift, the person said that they would harm/stab him.
    Also there was a person who was repeatedly ordering food to Travis residence. Then there is the YouTuber who has been filming every month outside the gates of Hongins newly completed home. So freaking creepy. I think he moved thank goodness because it finally stopped.

    I’ve been a K-pop fan my whole life, but one thing I still can’t wrap my head around is how sasaengs operate. Like, how does that whole “business” even work? 🤯

    First off, it’s obvious that being a sasaeng isn’t cheap. They seem like rich kids or people who don’t have to work a normal job, right? But what I really don’t understand is how they get all this insider information. Like, they somehow know private schedules, flight details, and even where idols are staying—stuff that regular fans like us can’t possibly figure out. What’s the connection? Are there staff members leaking info? Or do sasaengs bribe people to get access to that kind of stuff?

    Also, is there like… a hierarchy in the sasaeng community? 🤔 Like, are there certain sasaengs who are more “connected” and who lead others? It honestly feels like an organized group sometimes. I mean, some of them even sell information or pictures, so there’s clearly money involved. Did this all start with one person or a specific group? How did it evolve into what it is today?

    Let me make it super clear—I DO NOT support or condone this behavior AT ALL. I think it’s invasive and harmful to the idols and their teams. But looking at it purely from an organizational standpoint, it’s wild how coordinated it seems. Like, they operate almost like a secret network.

    I’d love to hear your thoughts or any insights you might have. If anyone has theories or knows more please share. This whole thing just boggles my mind.

    I’m reading all these comments about sasaengs poisoning idols, and if it’s about Yunho’s superglue incident, I just want to say it was actually an anti who did it (with the purpose to clearly harm him) and not a sasaeng looking for attention. While both kinds are clearly mentally ill or have no life, I just thought it was worth mentioning the difference. If it’s about another idol’s poisoning incidents though, please forget about what I said.

    It’s part of the reason so many wind up living in basically compounds with a battalions worth of employees like private chefs, trainers, nannies, assistants, etc. They literally live their lives just going from jobs to hotel rooms or home. And why many get reputations for being stand-offish. Some of guys might be divas, but plenty got that way because they can’t be sure who might be an opportunistic leech or even a threat.

    Imagine having to burn every shred of your trash or your hair cuttings. Going to the grocery store is a potential pr disaster if you accidentally bump into someone with your cart. Imagine not owning your own car or having your own credit card because of people tracking and selling the information.

    There is not enough money in this world someone could pay me to be “famous”. Which is wilder because imagine if Travis joined a K-pop group? The stalking would 20x worse.

      So I was reading up on some news about sasaeng fans and it was truly horrible what these a lot of people experience, I saw Baekhyun had to call out these sasaengs because of the SNS messages that were pushing back his parents messages. And now I read about the the Travis incident with the sasaeng trying to climb the fence to his house. This is extremely uncomfortable.

      I have honestly gotten into researching a bit about sasaengs and have recently found that some of the stuff they have done in more recent years have been going on since like the 1930s, which shouldn’t be all that surprising but I was still shocked. It seems that majority of those that participated in sasaeng activities are generally quite young and can’t really be prosecuted for crimes that they end commuting. Which is what is making it so difficult to stop the actions that the sasaeng commit.

        Sasaengs are terrible obsessive people but they tend to spend a lot of money on their favourite group which is weird because Travis isn’t even in a group but this is why a lot of companies don’t take action against them. They’re also prone to extreme behaviour so you also don’t want to anger them (given how royal Travis and his family is stalkers who believe they’re the reasons why the guys in their family are doing well and would flip out if the guys told them to fuck off). Their sisters have been stalked too.

      Most Laws in korea are more like suggestions. They are rarely enforced with more than a stern talking to or a fine unless there is some publicity or money to be thrown around. Police here are known to be complacent and not very active for most things. Many of my own students have even said they want to be police because they know it’s an easy job.

      Now lawsuits, on the other hand, get thrown around without the blink of an eye. Unless celebrities publicize and fight back publicly (which they won’t for fear of netizens outrage) nothing will change.

    “I’m so enraged atm like what do these people think they’re doing? Like what is the point?       I think SK needs to have more strict punishments for this kind of crime. People get off too easy and don’t learn their lesson, so they keep doing it. If people got arrested and brought out in front of the world to be embarrassed for their behavior, I think maybe these incidents would happen less. From what I understand, they are pretty lax when it comes to stalking and similar crimes. I’ve heard more horror stories on Jermhi but it’s like they’re all dealing with it. This family needs 24hrs security.

    I actually discovered Yunho before Changmin, thanks to the song and MV for “Thank U”, which was one of my fave MV of that year! That release introduced me to him as a performer and he’s definitely great!!
