  1. Well when I watched Standing In The Shadows of Motown and found out that one of the best Bass Players that not only came out of Motown but the world, James Jamerson had to buy a scalped ticket into the 25th Anniversary show held in L.A. ( IT SHOULD OF BEEN HELD WHERE IT ALL STARTED HERE IN DETROIT ) and sit up in some balcony seat along with whomever. That literally hurt me so bad I was infuriated. Jamerson should of been up on that stage with every single member of The Funk Brothers and the other main Voices of Motown who Gordy let remain in the background but where good enough to have been on over 20,000 Motown recordings, The Andantes.

Gordy should of been ashamed of himself.

The anniversary show was sickening to me. Just a few medley’s from The Four Tops and other Major Motown acts. That whole damn show was so focused on Diana Ross & Michael Jackson. I’m sorry but I was born in 1957 just three blocks from Hitsville ( 14th & W. Gran Blvd. ) and remember the EARLY Motown hits from the early 60s. The Jackson 5 came after the REAL MOTOWN. Gordy forgot who got him here and it still appalls me.

And BTW I was referring to my mistake of put Kin instead of KIM Weston. I can spell, I just cant type. LOL

I do it all with one finger.

Anyway there should of been so many others put into that spotlight that Gordy stomped from having a career. He’s no hero here in Detroit. Now his sister who passed recently, I paid homage to her in a blog. She refused to follow that brother to L.A., all she wanted was that house. Ester Gordy Edwards is the ONLY reason there is still a Hitsville Museum sitting in that original spot on the Blvd. She never left Detroit. Ester recognized her roots and preserved those memories for all of us who grew up here and for those that come from other places in the world to visit ” Motown”.

    1. Hi Longshot! I spent my early days in Detroit as well so, I know exactly how you feel, I can relate to what you are saying. The only reason Marvin Gaye had it so good was because he was married to Anna Gordy. She was 17 years old when Marvin was born lol

What pissed me off with Motown 25 was when Diana Ross said “Tonigt Everybody Came Back” I said “WHAT?” It was not long enough and a lot of the talent, writer, musicians were not mentioned at all. I was in Los Angeles when it on however, you are so right that should have been held in Detroit.

As matter of fact, I did a blog on Florence Ballards babies, It is so hurtful to see how forgotten they are. Berry Gordy should have seen to it that those girls were provided for. I love Detroit so much. I am plans to do special things there. I have family there. My play brother Actor Tony Cox is there filming a movie….

    1. Hey Longshot! This is why I put the link up, the staff writers were the ones to put “Kin”

      Thanks

  2. They would of been known for a lot more songs had Berry Gordy not held them back as he did with many Motown artists. Gordy wouldn’t even release the majority of their recordings. Kin Weston had to sue him. Brenda Holloway should of gotten a ton more recognition than she did… on and on. Infuriating and sad.

    1. Hi Longshot, OMG I totally agree with you, Berry Gordy hurt the artists that made money for him, Look at what he did to Florence Ballard, she named the Supremes and could not use the name because Berry Gordy stole it…. Michael Jackson was the one to pay for David Ruffin’s funeral and not the Gordys…. So sad….
