South Side rapper Chief Keef was held in custody today after a Judge ruled that he violated his probation for a previous gun conviction.
Juvenile Court Judge Carl Anthony Walker’s decision to jail the 17-year-old rap sensation, whose real name is Keith Cozart, stems from an on-camera interview in June with Pitchfork Media that shows the rapper holding a rifle at a gun range in New York.
Walker ruled that by holding the firearm Chief Keef violated the terms of his 18-month probation, a sentence he was given for pointing a gun at a Chicago police officer in 2011, according to Andy Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.
The rapper is scheduled to be sentenced before Walker on Thursday, said Conklin.
