SM Entertainment’s new girl group, Red Velvet have been receiving some negative spotlight in Japan.

On the 2nd of August, one of Japan’s news sources, Sports Hochi, reported on how Red Velvet’s music video for “Happiness” had used images news clippings of the Hiroshima nuclear bombing in their music video, and thus were receiving a lot of criticism in Japan.

The issue posed here is that connecting their music video with the tragic nuclear bombing in Japan is seen to be farfetched and somewhat audacious, as the content of the music video and song have no relation to this historical event.

What do you think about the use of such images in their music video?
