January 18th, JYJ won their lawsuit against one of Japan’s biggest management company, Avex, after the agency attempted to stop the trio from holding a charity event in 2011.

Avex was ordered to pay 660 million yen by the Tokyo District Court, as well as an additional 1 million yen after the court recognized that Avex had slandered C-JeS’s CEO.

In 2009, JYJ filed an injunction against SM Entertainment, with whom they signed an exclusive contract with Avex Entertainment. Due to their injunction in South Korea, the relationship between JYJ and Avex became strained, and in September 2010, Avex released a notice stating that C-JeS’s CEO was affiliated with gangs, bringing about the halt of JYJ’s activities in Japan.

Since then, JYJ’s album releases in Japan has not been included in the Oricon Charts and the trio were limited to their promotional activities.

However, now that the Tokyo District Court has ruled in JYJ’s favor, stating that Avex is to no longer interfere with the trio’s activities, there is excitement among fans in Japan. JYJ is now free to resume their activities in the country.

JYJ’s return to Japan is expected to make the Hallyu Wave rise yet again as they are one of the hottest Korean artists in the country, having made their debut as part of TVXQ, breaking multiple records before their split.

Despite not having promoted as artists, JYJ’s appearances in Korean dramas has garnered a still hot fan base in Japan. Park Yoochun’s acting has been receiving good responses from fans in Japan.

On the other hand, Avex recently posted on Avex Group that they do not agree with the Tokyo District Court’s rulings and is preparing to appeal. According to, Koreaboo.
