“The Sewol Ship” Carrying Ansan’s Danwon High School Student Saddened By Everyone Including K-Pop

A truly devastating and horrible event has held the attention of everyone in Korea, including K-Pop.

The ‘Sewol’ ship, which had been carrying 459 people on board, with 358 of them being Ansan’s Danwon High School students on a camping trip to Jeju Island, hit a coral reef in the middle of the ocean, causing the ship to completely capsize within just 2 hours.

Currently, the death toll is at 5, in which 3 have been confirmed to be students on the camping trip. Approximately 280 people are still missing and only around 175 people have been saved.

Due to this deeply saddening event, almost every television program and film release event in Korea had been cancelled or delayed, as well as the schedules and special events of several K-Pop artists, as everyone is grieving and mourning for all the losses.

KARA’s agency DSP Media stated, “Although we originally planned for KARA to perform, KARA has decided to forego performing during this year’s ‘Dream Concert.’ For a while, KARA’s Seungyeon, Hara, and Gyuri will be continuing on their individual activities and promotions. KARA will eventually release a comeback album, but nothing has been discussed in great detail as of now. As Seungyeon is starring in a 50-episode drama, KARA will be focusing on individual activities.”

KARA has been on the first line-up for “2014 Dream Concert” taking place on June 7, but it seems like the members are too busy with individual works, thus making an appearance on stage difficult.

The US state of Texas executed a man for stabbing to death his ex-girlfriend, her young son and her mother, state prison authorities said.

Jose Villegas, 38, was put to death by lethal injection and pronounced dead at 7:04 pm local time (0004 GMT) in Huntsville, said Jason Clark, spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

It was the 17th US execution this year and the seventh in Texas, where an execution has occurred each week over the past five weeks.

A12-year-old schoolgirl and her 13-year-old boyfriend have become Britain’s youngest parents and plan to stay together to raise their daughter, according to reports.

The couple, who posted a photo of their new arrival online, are said to have met in a park when she was only 10 and have the lowest combined age of any British parents on record.

At just 12 years and three months old, she is reportedly now the nation’s youngest mother after giving birth last Sunday.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was just 11 and still a primary pupil when the baby, who weighed close to 7lbs 4 oz, was conceived.

At 27, the girl’s own mother has become one of Britain’s youngest grandmothers. She accompanied her daughter yesterday as they went to register the birth.
